Purpose of the Job:

  • Prepare, present weather information and provide a continuous weather watch to the NFTC program.
  • Receive and disseminate general aviation related information to all pilots and operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Serco Canada Inc. policies and procedures, including but not limited to Code of Conduct and Ethics, Serco Management System, etc.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, encodes and transmits surface weather, and PIREP observations in accordance with procedures and regulations as laid out in Environment Canada Manobs.
  • Prepares and present Power Point briefings to military users in accordance with local SOP’s.
  • Interacts with the Forecaster in the production of the Terminal aerodrome Forecast and weather warnings, when required.
  • Performing flight information and NOTAM dissemination.
  • Prepare and disseminate flight plans. 
  • Prior Permission Request processing.
  • Log and disseminate UFO and Sensitive Flight calls
  • Coordinate the supply of aeronautical maps and flight publication to Aircrews.
  • Conducts daily quality control checks of the weather observing program as laid out in Manobs.
  • Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.
  • Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of the Military qualification 6A/B or Tactical Weather Specialist is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ Observing/Briefing experience is desired.
  • Working knowledge of Power Point and Excel is required.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Class 5 SK Driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance is required.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the operations including occupational health and safety, environmental, and quality. 

 

Other:

  • When required, cross train peer(s) to complete relevant tasks (e.g. vacation coverage, perform Acting duties, etc.)
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
