Purpose of the Job:

  • Responsible for coordinating and project managing a major client change request initiative. This particular project involves changes to legislation and business processes designed to improve road safety. The Project Management role involves coordinating activities across multiple channels including business operations and IT and will also involve working closely with our client, the Ministry of Transportation, to ensure alignment of approach and systems. This is a contract position estimated 6-10 months with possibility of permanent employment.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Internal and External business and IT service providers to provide project management oversight.This includes supporting the development of enterprise applications required to deliver client facing services, coordinating deliverables across our business operations team, monitoring service provider deliverables and plans, and adhering to requirements and timelines.

  • Provide project leadership, management and transition of identified deliverables within project scope, schedule and cost constraints

  • Provide project coordination, management and leadership to a matrix team of IT professionals, each of whom is responsible for planning and execution of project deliverables

  • Plan, manage, control and transition the Variation, spanning various functional areas, stakeholders and internal and external resources

  • Apply well-rounded expertise and detailed knowledge of interdependencies related to information system design, implementation, and integration to help optimize project delivery

  • Proactively share knowledge across project team as appropriate

  • Identify and report project risks , while providing recommendations and possible options

  • Interface with stakeholders, technology resources and the business as required to achieve project objectives

  • Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.

  • Create and maintain the Integrated Project Plan (IPP) using Microsoft Project (MSP)

  • Design, create and deliver program status to a variety of different audiences including Executive

  • Deliverables:

    • Working with Business and IT to establish business processes, systems, resources and any other necessary supports to allow for planned changes

    • Implementing necessary changes to qmatic kiosk, CSA application, Knowledge test kiosk. Scheduler and Road test tablet as required

    • Requirements to become active by July 1, 2018

  • Key Milestone Requirements: 
    • High Level Design: Q4, 2017

    • Low Level Design: Q4, 2017

    • Contract Submittal: Q4, 2018

    • Delivery: estimated July 1, 2018

 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field, possibly including Information Technology

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or CMMI certifications

  • Must possess excellent verbal communications and writing skills, with experience leading technical staff

  • Strong technical project management skills with the ability to work on and track multiple projects simultaneously. Proven track record of leading multiple partners/sub-contractors.

  • Experience working with/for large system integration companies and/or serving government customers.

  • Able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within own discipline and knowledge of others.

  • Ability to evaluate risk and related mitigation strategies.

  • Communicates effectively – able to articulate ideas in a clear and persuasive manner.

  • Initiative – the ability to think and act ahead, takes a proactive approach in anticipating problems and driving opportunities.

  • Manages people effectively – follows through with performance management including objective setting, regular feedback and review.

  • Competency with Microsoft Project (MSP).

  • Must have experience with Waterfall and Agile Methodologies.

  • Should have experience running Agile teams and running daily scrums, plan sprints etc. Good to have Scrum Master Certification.
